Cobb Salad

3 Aug

No, that’s not the one I made. This one is pictured from ourbestbites.com. A perfectly adorable site that makes THE cutest cupcake in a jar! I die. She also does pie in a jar. I need a bigger jar.

My Cobb salad will never look like hers. Because Twitch likes it “ready to eat”. All mixed up with dressing and everything. So it just looks like a Ranch mountain in pictures.

My Cobb includes: bacon, egg, avocado, cheese, onion, bell pepper, mushroom, cucumber, olives, and tomato.

I’ve been making my own Ranch for a while now. I can’t remember where I got this recipe, but I hear it tastes like Hidden Valley.

Twitch’s Ranch Dressing:

1/2 c. Mayo

1/2 c. buttermilk

1/4 tsp. parsley

1/4 tsp. pepper

1/4 tsp. salt

1/8 tsp. garlic powder

1/8 tsp. onion powder

pinch of thyme

Mix it all up. Done. It tastes best after a day in the fridge.

Note: Using a blender will make this runnier. It breaks down the mayo.

If you want to make BBQ ranch, then just mix in your favorite BBQ sauce!

On hot Summer days, it’s nice not to turn the oven on or anything. It’s also nice to BBQ, which would have been great if I hadn’t left the gas on for like 3 hours and killed the propane tank the other day. Dang. Minus one for the wife.

Summer means fresh cherries

6 Jul

I made some homemade yogurt last week with honey and homemade vanilla extract. Then we got the most delicious cherries from Twitch’s friend at work who happens to own a Cherry Farm.

Homemade yogurt and fresh cherries

The only problem? They came with pits. Those suckers are hard to get out.

So many cherries to be pitted!

Until I found this baby. It pits 4 cherries at a time and contains all the juice so there’s little mess.

Summer days were made for this.

4th of July

Twitch and I took our 1 Year Anniversary pictures today. After that, we headed home and I made these waffles. Holy heck they were good. So much better than any other coconut flour waffles I’ve had. You may notice the cup of raisins it calls for. Just do it. Don’t pansy out. It’s surprisingly delicious and not all chewy raisin like.

By the way, don’t judge my butter consumption.

Liver Flush #5

3 Jul

This one was hard. Harder than the others. And I was surprised. I followed a Hulda Clark Flush this time. That means ate no animal fats on Monday and stopped eating at 2pm. At 6pm I drank 1 Tbsp Epsom Salts in 3/4 cup of water. I repeated this at 8pm. At 10 pm, I drank 1/2 cup of olive oil with 1/2 cup of grapefruit juice. Then I went to bed. And stayed very still for 20 minutes.

It was hard to get everything down this time. Real Hard. Gross. And I threw it all up at midnight. Blech. And Nasty.

After that, I slept great. Like a baby. It was beautiful, restful sleep.

My alarm clock went off at 6am to take the next dose of Epsom Salt. That was a kick in the ear.

I got up and had way more energy than I thought I would. Ran all over the house cleaning up and doing chores. I felt great.

The results of the flush? Some way bigger Liver Stones than I’ve seen before. I can’t believe this crap is all in me. Good grief. There were about a dozen the size of quarters and then lots the size of nickles. Usually I get peas/dimes. And my liver hurts. I mean, the right side of my abdomen hurts and I assume it’s liver pain. My poor liver just went through the ringer. Getting all those gigantic stones out must have been difficult. Good job Mr. Liver. You rock.

My favorite new drink recipe

14 Jun

I feel so healthy just typing this. I found a new green smoothie recipe. The banana is key. Otherwise it would just be green. Bleh. I love my veggies, but I’m not a big fan of veggies in juice form. This I think I can drink on a regular basis:

1 cup cold water

3 cups spinach

3 cups lettuce

1 banana

1 apple

Ice (this is key to the yum factor)

I got this from:

I haven’t actually read the book yet. It’s on hold at the library. Because I’m cheap like that. I mean frugal. I respect my dolla bills.

My favorite homemade all purpose cleaner.

6 Jun

I’m Laura Ingalls Wilder at heart. I even have a board on Pinterest titled “Prarie Time”. It’s got all kinds of homemade and DIY stuff on it. This all-purpose cleaner is my go-to for anything and everything. It’s awesome.

Recipe for All-Purpose Cleaner:

1/4 cup while vinegar

2 tablespoons Borax

1/4 cup liquid castille soap (I use Dr. Bronner’s)

2 cups hot water

Mix it all together in your spray bottle. The hot water with mix the Borax right up. I don’t notice anything settling, but I like to give it a little shake before using to make sure it’s mixed. I got this recipe from The Grocery Shrink. Her principles are pretty awesome.

Liver Flush #3 and I ate today.

3 Jun

36 days without eating a single bite of real food. Only juice going on in this tummy. Surprisingly, I don’t really care about food right now. I mean, I’m eating cantaloupe and strawberries, but it’s not like I’m binging on it. Feeling pretty good about life right now. Honestly, can’t WAIT to eat vegetable. Broiled. Oh my goodness. Now I’m hungry. Keep all your sugar and carbs. Give me this deliciousness:

I just licked the computer screen.

On another note, I also completed my 3rd Liver Flush today. It’s crazy how many liver stones come out. Just ridiculous. I woke up at 2am this morning when the epsom salts started doing their thing. Unfortunately, there was no more sleep in the cards for me. Just like the last 2 flushes, I feel like I have so much energy. It’s awesome. I wish my ankle weren’t broken, or I would be out running some of this good mojo off- only to get more happy endorphins for my effort!
